HK Electric provides Renewable Energy Certificates (REC) for customers to purchase for achieving their RE/environmental targets while supporting the local RE development. Customers who have purchased REC possess the right to claim the environmental benefits (e.g. zero carbon dioxide and air pollutant emissions) associated with the amount of electricity carried in REC.
All HK ElectricĀs registered customers are eligible to purchase REC. REC are priced at HK$0.5 per unit (i.e. kWh) of electricity (effective from 1 January 2019) on top of the normal electricity tariff rate and are allocated on a first-come-first-served basis while REC inventory lasts.
